How are we all feeling about AI right now? Extinction risk, environmental harm, cognitive decline, good old-fashioned bias in the data: there's a smorgasbord of options to choose from when picking your current AI fear.
But there's a lesser known story too. Marginalised people have always known how to fight for their existence. That fight has shaped our identities and our lives, and the skills we've built pursuing justice are vital if we want a different future from the one being cooked up by tech giants and governments.
This event centres those voices. Pioneering artists Chipo Mapondera and Ilā Kamalagharan will share how their work pushes back against mainstream narratives and imagines more hopeful, socially impactful futures for AI. Together we'll explore the public debate from new angles and look at what AI could become.
We also want to hear from you. Your input will help us advocate for what the creative industries need to consider when engaging with AI, and what good leadership looks like in this fast-moving space.
This is an opportunity to come together in community, share experiences, and leave with fresh perspectives, practical advice, and collective wisdom in a supportive, uplifting space.
As always, Ida sessions are warm, informal, and open to women, trans, and non-binary people working in, or curious about, creative emerging technologies. You don't need to be an expert. Just bring your curiosity, experience, and a willingness to reflect together.
This online session is delivered as part of Ida Hwb, Ida's partnership with Wales Millennium Centre.
