The Ida Network: Hwb Online Meet-up on Equitable Design

Join Ida Hwb for a deep-dive online event where we will explore how immersive storytelling, co-creation and mutual benefit can underpin the creative process. For this meet-up we will be joined by Kirsty Jennings (Managing Director) of Anagram who will be sharing their inclusive practice behind the creation of Impulse: Playing with Reality. This award-winning project gives amazing insight into the lives of individuals living with ADHD, made by people living with ADHD. This session brings together artists, technologists and those who are seeking to learn more about what inclusive practice looks like – especially when tasked with telling stories of people in our communities who identify as neurodivergent.

Together, we’ll reflect on equitable methods of participant involvement to think about how we can move beyond consultation into co-creation, decision making and compensated contribution. We’ll also explore how we sustain those relationships over time, whether this comes in the form of ongoing consultation, invitations to shape the work and practices of mutual benefit that extend beyond a single project.

This session will involve:

  • Speaker discussions and reflections on past and current projects.

  • Open conversations around access and authorship.

  • Small break-out sessions to respond to themes during the session.

Whether you’re already deep with the design process or beginning to find ways to design more equitably and inclusively, we welcome you to join the conversation.

As always, are sessions are warm, informal and open to women, non-binary and trans individuals working in or exploring immersive technologies. You don’t need to be an expert to take part – just bring your curiosity and care.
